To create this artwork, I folded a piece of paper in quarters, drew a pattern and (with the help of light boxes) repeated the pattern on the 3 other quarters. I then (with the help of more light boxes) copied the pattern on 6 other pieces of paper. Those pieces now tessellate. In this project, I have become more familiar with the light boxes and found out easy ways to make things tessellate.
In this project I felt creative; I could create anything I wanted to tessellate. But I wanted to find something that looked good. In this project I used my powers of observation to see what worked and what didn't. I'm quite pleased with my finished work, which uses rhythm.
In this project I learnt to uses light boxes, how to copy efficiently and, of course, how I need to set out my blog post. A famous tessellation master was M. C. Escher. His artwork is AMAZING! Please take some time to google his work. I use rhythm in vocal class.
Nice piece of work, Matthew. The light boxes are very interesting tools, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteI did google Escher and found out some very cool things about him. He was famous for a lot more than tessellations.
I think the visual rhythm you use in art is a little different than the rhythm you use in music. :-)
